Your dog is a part of your family. They eat your leftovers and go with you on morning walk everyday. But since your dog can’t speak, he can’t complain about the medical issues he might be having. So, how can you tell if your dog is okay, or is suffering from some illness?
There are some warning signs which can help you detect any problem that your dog might be facing. Learning these warning signs is a must for every dog owner if they want to keep their dog out of any trouble.
Unusual Eating Habits
It is not common for your dog to skip more than two consecutive meals. This is a red flag that you must investigate. If its been two days since your dog last took a meal, you should take your dog to a vet right away.
Certain diseases can often cause dogs to develop unusual eating habits. If your dog doesn’t take the meals regularly, and then suddenly raids the garbage, you should get him checked by a vet.
You should keep track of how much water your dog drinks every day. If your dog is now drinking more water than he used to, this can be an indication of kidney disease or diabetes. You can detect these increased drinking habits if you have to refill the water bowl more than usual, or if the dog is urinating more than usual.
Symptoms of Constipation
Although constipation is less common on dogs as compared to diarrhea, your dig can still suffer from it due to many issues with his digestion.
Symptoms of constipation, like unusual eating patterns, rubbing anus on the ground, swollen anus and others can suggest that your dog is suffering from constipation. You can check out this infographic to know more about this issue.
